in 1759. It became a British Associated State in 1967 and independent in 1978
Flag Description: The flag, adopted in 1978, features the national bird
Emblem, the sisserou parrot, which also appears on the coat of arms granted July

a few pairs remain.
The green field represents the lush vegetation of the island. The cross
represents the Trinity and the Christian faith, and its three colors recall the
native Indians, the fertile soil, and the pure water. The ten stars stand for
the ten parishes and the red disk for social justice. The flag of the President
has a dark green field with the coat of arms in the center, crowned with a
British lion. It depicts palm trees and indigenous frog, and the sea
Region: West Indies and the Caribbean
Explanation of Flag Colors: Yellow recalls the original inhabitants.
