Good carbohydrates are better for diabetics because our body absorbs them much slower thus providing our bodies with a steady sugar level. The third guideline is to watch your fatty foods intake. Eating to much fatty foods can lead to major health issues like kidney disease and heart problems. The bad fat in the foods we need to avoid is saturated fats which are commonly found in the foods we love to eat like fast foods and margarines. The good fat that we should include in our diet, to keep our bodies healthy, is called monounsaturated fats which are found in canola oil and virgin olive oil.
The fourth guideline is to watch how much alcohol you consume. Alcohol is quickly turned into sugar after entering our bodies and mimics simple carbohydrates. Consuming too much alcohol will place too much sugar into our body and can lead to many bad things happening.
The fifth guideline is to make sure your diet contains more fiber. A diet with more fiber will help lower your blood sugar. You should try to increase your fiber intake slowly to avoid getting bloated and you also need to make sure that you drink at least 8 cups a day to avoid getting constipated. You can find fiber in all plant foods some of which include vegetables, whole grain foods, nuts, and fruits.
The sixth guideline is to add some extra vitamin E in your daily diet. Studies have shown that consuming some extra vitamin E on a daily basis can prevent blood clots, prevent the formation of fatty plaque on your artery walls, and prevents blood vessels from swelling.
