Natural UTI Prevention Remedy
Thank you for checking out my recipe. I hope it brings you excellent health. Make it part of a daily routine that includes good food, good exercise, and good hygiene, and may you never get a UTI! It is very important to me that I don’t get classified as some snake oil salesman, trying to get rich by slinging the bull about some phony, cure all remedy. There are two things that I am sure of. First, I won’t get rich from this. Second, no bull, this really works! I use it and I’ve turned a lot of friends and family onto it. I really believe in it. Okay, there was one little lie in there -I don’t have many friends. How sad for me. Who knows, when this remedy works for you, and you feel better and more confident about not having to sweat getting a horrible urinary tract infection, you will send me some positive feedback and a testimonial – Signed “you’re friend” so and so.
24 oz. of Cranberry Juice
24 ounces of prevention is worth 24 pounds of cure. Cranberry juice is the foundation of this remedy and the ingredient that is scientifically proven to help prevent a UTI. Now this is important: Use REAL juice, preferably unsweetened, even though it’s kind of expensive and a little bitter. There is also a concentrated, powder form that comes as a pill. This is a suitable and somewhat cheaper substitute for real juice but “cocktail” or “drink” is NOT.
Cranberry juice does NOT kill the bacteria in the urinary tract. It does NOT change the Ph of urine making it too acidic for the bacteria to grow. There are proanthocyanidins in cranberry juice that keep the bacteria from sticking to the cells that make up the urinary tract; flushing it right out of your system. This remedy also contains a diuretic ingredient that increases the frequency of flushes. We will get to that later.
The largest family-owned cranberry farm in the world, A.D. Makepeace Co., is in Massachusetts. This entire industry suffered in recent years loosing 80% of returns. This almost killed it. Now, thanks to a great program offered by Ocean Spray to the children of their current growers called “Next Wave” these family farms will live to be passed on to the sons and daughters who grew up there. Feel better without a UTI and feel good about supporting the American family farm.
How much juice is enough? Three glasses per day should do it. I make up this remedy in a 32 oz. bottle, with about 24 ounces of cranberry juice and drink one per day. I have never had a UTI. A few years ago my wife suffered through a bad one that the first round of antibiotics didn’t touch. She said the pain, discomfort and associated flu-like symptoms would have literally drove her crazy if it persisted a few more days. That’s when I first learned about the true benefits of drinking cranberry juice. My daughter, and although more common in women, even my father are also in the UTI club.
There are other benefits to cranberry juice. I am a big fan of antioxidants, and this juice has plenty of that. It is a good source of vitamin E, and also Vitamin K which the body does not store, so a daily dose is recommended. A bottle of this remedy will also supply 125% of a days requirement of vitamin C. Okay, so it is bitter tasting! The next ingredient in this recipe will take the edge off of that.
12 drops or 1/2 teaspoon of Stevia
Stevia is shrouded in controversy. All you government conspiracy theorists listen to this: The FDA seems to have collaborated with artificial sweetener lobbyists to give this herb such a bad rap that it is piratically treated like marijuana. If it is labeled as a low calorie sweetener, and not as a dietary supplement, it is subject to search and seizure.
This herb is 150 to 400 times sweeter than sugar. Native to Paraguay, it is starting to be used very frequently in Japan where it has been scientifically tested and found to be completely safe for human consumption. You can find this low calorie natural sweetener in health food stores. Use it instead of all those artificial sweeteners that I think can be toxic. The FDA tells the public that they tested these chemicals and found them to be safe. The problem with the testing is that they don’t heat up the chemicals at any point to simulate an unrefrigerated truck load of diet soda in Nevada in July; 120 degrees. Studies have shown that these temperatures can change the properties of these artificial sweeteners rendering an adverse effect on the nervous system.
There is some research that suggests that stevia can actually decrease blood sugar. But extensive research has proven that it will NOT increase levels of sugar in the blood. So it makes a perfect replacement for sugar. Although a very natural product, refined sugar has no nutritional value and is extremely overused except in Brazil where it is used in abundance to fuel that country’s automobiles. You go Brazil!
It is the diuretic properties of stevia that makes it very useful in this remedy. What is a diuretic? A substance that makes you pee. Here you have the frequent flushing. Holding your urine, which in of itself can be uncomfortable, can cause a UTI. So don’t be concerned with the inconvenience, if you feel the urge, go! Emptying your bladder after intercourse helps in the prevention of these infections. Caffeine is also a diuretic, but this irritates the bladder so stay away from it while being treated for a UTI.
5 Grams of Creatine Monohydrate
Creatine is an excellent supplement as long as you don’t overdose on it. Use this supplement with caution. 5 grams is an all around, one size fits all dose. Drink plenty of fluids in addition to the cranberry juice that it is mixed in. Don’t cheap out! There are many different forms and brands of this supplement. Even the best stuff is only about 25 cents per dose. Experiment with it because not everyone reacts the same to it. Some people have some trouble digesting it. If it upsets your stomach, try creatine citrate instead.
What is it for and what does it do? This supplement increases the power in your muscle cells-substantially! If you do 10 reps with a certain weight during a workout, you are likely to see an extra rep after a week of 5 gram doses of creatine. Studies have shown it to be safe, and the extra energy claims are well supported. It also helps your muscle recover after exercise. See if you notice the lactic acid ache dissipate sooner after taking creatine daily.
Many creatine users “cycle” the use of this product. I think this is a good idea. Because this supplement is a relatively new discovery, there is some concern that like with some other supplements, your body may fail to make it on it’s own if it gets used to or dependent on it being provided by an outside source. So taking it for two months and then taking a month off can keep your metabolism from forgetting how to make this up by it’s self. Even though it probably won’t forget.
This ingredient is effective. Coupled with B vitamin complex, you are giving you’re body a real double energy boost- not the “caffeine, taurine” kind of unhealthy, artificial, temporary, jittery energy those popular energy drinks provide. It will cause your kidneys to work a little harder, so if you have kidney or liver problems I would omit this ingredient. Let you’re doctor know if you decide to take this daily.
One Daily Dose of Vitamin B complex
Vitamin B is the BRAIN vitamin. Substances in this complex have been shown to slow the detrimental effects of aging on the brain. A lack of this essential vitamin causes all kinds of psychological and physical problems. A good supply promotes a sharp mind, healthy skin and abundant energy. That is why it is always found in energy drinks. This is a water soluble vitamin. That means you can’t overdose on it. You’re body will take all it needs and pass the rest through the urine. Vitamin C is also like this.
It is not necessary to crush pills and put it into the drink. It also isn’t necessary to get the liquid form to mix in, but of coarse you can if you would like to. You may also buy these substances separately. The advantage to going the separate route is built around the riboflavin. For instance, if you find your urine to be a little bit TOO yellow for your taste (bad choice of words there) you can cut back on just the riboflavin. If it isn’t quite yellow enough for your liking then you can up the dose. Remember it is all water soluble so you can’t OD.
It was once thought that B vitamin was a single vitamin. Now it is understood that there are essentially eight. Then why is one called B-12? Because once it was discovered that there was quite a distinction between these B vitamin substances, even though they were found in the same foods, they came up with a list of over nineteen. Then it was found out that a bunch of these didn’t fit the definition of a vitamin so they were cut from the team. Now, essentially, we are left with eight. Here is the run down:
B1- Thiamine. A deficiency of this will cause “beriberi”. It was this disease that virtually led to the discovery of vitamins in general. Some tribe, somewhere, over a hundred years ago, came up with a way to take the brown skins off of their rice; for no reason, they just liked it better that way- like people who take the crust off of their bread. Anyway, it turned out that they were taking the B1 out of the rice, and right out of their diets causing this debilitating and deadly disease that comes replete with all sorts of irreversible neurological, psychological, and physical damage.
B2- Riboflavin. A shortage of this can have an effect on male and female genitalia called pseudo syphilis. Not good! Remember, Vitamin B, yellow Pee! This will make your urine an almost florescent yellow. It is the excess riboflavin in the Vitamin B complex that causes the color. What I like about this effect, is that I am reminded every time I take a leak, that I’m keeping up with my regimen.
B3- Niacin. Like most of the different substances that fall into the B vitamin category, a lack of niacin can have negative psychological effects. The physical effect of a deficiency of niacin is weakness and in severe cases can be fatal. B5- Pantothenic acid. Lack of this causes acne and other physical effects like “pins and needles” in the mouth, or hands and feet and a lack of energy.
B6- Pyrodoxine. A Deficiency causes depression, hypertension, and dermatitis.B7- Biotin. This vitamin is not important for adults, but is very important for an infants neurological health.B9- Folic Acid. Most people know now that Folic Acid is super important for pregnant women because a lack of this can cause birth defects. So while carrying you’re healthy baby to term, with all the associated discomforts from morning sickness to hemorrhoids, concentrate on avoiding a UTI.
B12- Cobolamins. Older adults have a greater occurrence of a deficiency because it is less able to be absorbed by the body. The deficiency can cause memory loss, psychosis, and other physical and mental problems. It can also inhibit the immune system.
The best source for all vitamins, and especially the B complex, is good, fresh food! If you are a vegetarian (like myself) you may be surprised to hear that B12 is not found in plants. So if you are a vegan (not like myself -I eat fish and eggs) then be sure to supplement. And always drink lots of fluids, like, 64 oz. per day. You are half way there just with this remedy.
If you are intelligent enough, and a good enough steward of the healthy mind and body that God gave you, then you probably already know the value of vitamins and dietary supplements. There is a lot of it out there, and even though I pick on the FDA, they do a good job of making sure that none of this stuff is poison. I think that you will also be able to recognize that although it does not corner the market on all that is healthy for you, this remedy is the real deal. Use it. Enjoy it.
