Natural Cures For Hair Loss
By the age of 50, over half of all men have lost some hair. It’s a natural process but it can be stopped and even reversed. In this article, I’ll analyze both drugs and natural methods and see if they have merit.
Drugs
There are currently 2 FDA approved drugs out there that are used for treatment of hair loss and there will soon be a third.
One of them inhibits production of DHT in your system and the other widens your blood vessels. Why are these two properties so important?
Well, the reason you get hair loss is because your body converts your testosterone into DHT. While DHT is useful in the body, it also causes your hair follicles to lose their nutrition. Either removing DHT or acting on the blood vessels can help your follicles access more nutrition for your blood.
The drugs do work but they also have a raft of side effects. For example, these can include dizziness, male breast development and erectile dysfunction. Don’t forget that these drugs were not originally made for treating hair loss. They were originally developed as blood pressure or enlarged prostate medications and not specifically for stopping hair loss and regrowing hair.
Natural Products
There are also natural products that can do both of what drugs achieve – naturally lower DHT and naturally encourage better blood circulation of the scalp and therefore nutrification of the hair follicles.
Most of these natural products are applied to the scalp. You cannot just apply it to the scalp raw as it will have no effect – you normally have to extract the raw ingredients using a recipe to make a home made hair tonic.
By applying this tonic to your scalp every day (as you would have to do with one of the drugs anyway), you can stop your hair loss and even regrow old hairs.
So the drugs and the natural products are very similar with one big difference – the natural products do not have the debilitating side effects that the drugs do.
