Simple Techniques For External Hemorrhoid Treatments
There are two types of hemorrhoids internal and external. In this article I will explain what hemorrhoids are, the difference between the two, and various external hemorrhoid treatments.
Introduction
Hemorrhoids are not life-threatening but left untreated can quickly become a painful disorder. It is in-fact an age old problem, go back 2,500 years, to the time of Hippocrates and you’ll find hemorrhoids were treated by burning them away with a hot poker, or cutting them off with a sharp implement. Today thankfully we have a far better understanding.
It is estimated that over 130 millions people in America will experience hemorrhoids by age 50.
There are many reasons for hemorrhoids including aging, heredity, pregnancy, child birth, heavy lifting, unhealthy diet, severe coughing, diarrhea, straining too much during bowel movements, infection, constipation and frequent use of laxatives or enemas. What are Hemorrhoids?
Hemorrhoids are basically swollen or enlarged veins that occur around or in the anus. They normally start inside the rectum and extend to the exterior at a later stage.
Internal
Internal hemorrhoids are found inside the rectum and, needless to say, since there are no symptoms from the outside, they are harder to identify. The main signs are brilliant red blood on your bowel movements, toilet or toilet paper and a uncomfortable feeling around the anal area.
They are not usually very painful.
External
On the other hand, external are characterized by painful swelling and a hard lump close to the anus. External hemorrhoids are the most noticeable in terms of pain, bleeding and discomfort. External hemorrhoids are more obvious than the internal type since they are readily felt by the patient at the opening of the anal canal and look and feel like lumps or small grapes.

Diet
Diet Habits: You need plenty of vitamins and minerals in your diet and food groups that are rich in calories, proteins and above all fiber. These will all help your bowl movements and the solidness of your stools.
Bath
A Sitz Bath is designed for hemorrhoids (it fits over your toilet using a constant stream of warm water) and is considered the easiest method of reducing pain and is considered one of the best forms of external hemorrhoid treatments A warm bath causes the vessels around the rectal region to be relaxed.
Ensure that you dry the affected area completely after a bath otherwise it may lead to irritation.
Cushions
There is also specialized cushions to deal with this problem. They look like a doughnut. The idea is they relieve the pressure as you sit.
Ice Pack
This also is a way to ease the pain. Use crushed ice in a bag and wrap it in a thin towel apply directly for 15-20 minutes then leave it for half an hour. After a couple of hours give it a rest for 3-4 hours. A commercial ice gel is just as good.
All the above methods are good as temporary external hemorrhoids treatments,
but for a permanent cure you need to follow a recognized program which tackles the root causes.
