I read and consult a lot of anti aging blogs to keep up with the latest trends in beauty and skin care. There are gobs of products out there in the health & wellness industry, and it’s not always affordable to buy all of the ones you want to have around the house. Fortunately, there are other ways to look good and feel good with items that are around the house. Back when technology and science weren’t always on the cutting edge, crafty Moms would make their own blends from whatever they had at home to treat illness, treat the skin, and help cure common ailments that happen to the body. Here is an overview of some home remedies that can help you out in a pinch should you be short on change or just want to try something crafty for a change.

For a therapeutic and natural way to clean your skin, keep this one in mind. When you peel an orange, keep the skin. You can add it later to your bath water! Orange peels in the bath water will help soften your skin as well as clean the skin on contact. They will also leave a sweet citrus smell in the air which is a fresh aroma that will make you feel pleasant. You can substitute a lime or lemon as well, as they also have freshening and cleansing capabilities.

If you read my articles on a regular basis, you know I often write about dark circles under the eyes. These dark circles are caused by many factors, including but not limited to your overall lack of sleep, lack of nutrition, food consumption and even heredity. Other than buying a high-rated eye cream, such as Elite Cream, there are some ways you can help reduce them in appearance with what you have around the house.

One method I’ve heard about for years is to mix a teaspoon of tomato juice with half a teaspoon of lemon juice. Mix in a tiny pinch of turmeric powder and then finally add a small pinch of chickpea. Apply this to the area around the eyes using a circular motion to make sure it absorbs well. Avoid contact with the eyes as you don’t want a sticky mess in your eyelashes. You can apply this mixture at your convenience and let it dry for about 20 minutes. Then, wash it off with warm water and continue on with your day.

Another method I have written about in past articles that you may recall is my all-time favorite. To treat any deficiencies around the eye area, such as dark circles and puffy eyes, you can apply an egg white under each eye for 20-30 minutes. Egg whites, especially when frozen (keep them in the freezer for quick access) can provide a refreshing, cooling sensation under the eye area.

The last home remedy to help your children look good is an acne cure. To try to cure acne, people have had success with this mixture you can use with stuff in your kitchen cabinet. Mix together 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of pure white sugar with a few drops of water and apply to the face.

Sometimes these remedies don’t sound too nourishing, but often times they do the trick. They are good tips to keep in mind for a slow economy like the one we are in right now.
