Easy Remedies To Cure Urinary Tract Infection
If you are suffering from this very painful condition, you will no doubt want to know what you can do quickly to get some relief. For those looking at how to get rid of a UTI, there are a number of simple steps you can take right now which could help.
One of the first things to do is to ensure that you are drinking enough water. You will know by now that urinating when you have a UTI is excruciating-as I can well testify! However, if you have a full bladder, although urination still hurts, it is not as bad. Try to drink at least 8 6-8oz glasses of water daily. Even if you do not have an infection, this is still a good habit to get into as it can help ward off future attacks.
Another way to help get rid of a UTI is to take a high dose vitamin C tablet and drink a couple of glasses of unsweetened cranberry juice. There is a substance in cranberry juice which can stop bacteria adhering to the bladder walls. Ensure you do not drink sweetened cranberry juice though as sugar can feed the bacteria, making the infection worse.
Another good tip to ease the pain is to use a heat pad or hot water bottle on your abdomen. Very often when you have a uti you will feel a dull, aching pain in the lower part of your abdomen. Warmth radiating from a heat source can be very soothing and will certainly help.
Although taking a bath was one of my favorite ways of coping with the intense pain of my UTI infections, this is not recommended as the water can help to push bacteria further up the urethra. Showers are certainly best. Always use unperfumed soaps and avoid deodorants around the vaginal area as perfumed products can cause irritation which in turn can contribute to bacterial growth.
