Basic Accuracy About Thrombosed Hemorrhoids
It can be worrisome to realize that you have thrombosed hemorrhoids. It’s understandable why the condition can be a little alarming. Having the condition means having to deal with a discolored, swollen vein in your anal region. If it is your first time to experience it, you may easily imagine it to be a very serious medical condition.
The truth though is that the condition is simply the result of veins forming clots in them. They will naturally feel painful and irritating. This is especially if you have particularly hard stools. If you wait long enough though, the condition may disappear on its own after a few days or weeks. In other words, thrombosed hemorrhoids are not really life threatening.
Some people however still prefer to have the condition treated. This is entirely their choice and doctors will always be willing to help as long as surgery is recommended. Usually though, surgical removal is best resorted to when the condition is still within three days of its formation. Having it removed after that may lead to greater irritation. Those who opt for late removal though may still proceed with surgical solutions as long as they fully understand and consent to the procedure.
If you don’t want the condition to be surgically removed, you can look for ways to reduce the pain. Thrombosed hemorrhoids are least likely to cause undue discomfort if you add more fiber in your diet to soften stools. You can also relieve discomfort by soaking in a hot bath, using cold packs or standing less often.
